Patrick Hughes
Born without eyes and with arms and legs that can never fully extend, Patrick has beat the odds to become a beloved musician, performer and public speaker – inspiring others with his expression of strength and faith wherever he goes. He began playing the piano at the age of nine months and later developed a love of the trumpet. A graduate of Atherton High School, Patrick began to capture local (and eventually national) attention during his college years when he joined the marching band at the University of Louisville. Louisville’s marching band director, Dr. Greg Byrne, had suggested that Patrick play the trumpet while his father maneuvered his wheelchair through the complex marching formations. He tells his powerful story in his book, I Am Potential. “Don’t give up,” he says. “Know there’s a plan, even if you can’t tell what it is or can’t see it.” For more information about Patrick, click here.
